Massage Cupping Therapy

This remarkable, time-honored therapy uses comfortable, safe, custom-designed suction cups which, whether used alone or when combined with conventional massage techniques, efficiently and effectively reduce chronic muscle and joint pain by lifting and separating soft tissue rather than simply compressing it. With cumulative treatments, this negative pressure/suction action accomplishes everything traditional massage does, but often with less pain and longer lasting results:

  • Helps eliminate "knots"
  • Increases range of motion
  • Helps lubricate joints, often resulting in reduced chronic joint pain
  • Speeds post-injury/post-surgery recovery
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Increases circulation
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Detoxifies
  • Helps eliminate retained water
  • Stimulates the body’s production of dopamine and serotonin, hormones that ease pain and help stabilize mood swings, respectively
  • Promotes restful sleep

Your Cupping Therapy session is customized to your individual needs. You may choose a 30 minute Cupping session or 60 minute Cupping + Deep Tissue or Swedish Relaxation massage.

Many patients have asked, "Will cupping leave bruises on me?"

The answer is no. Cupping uses negative pressure (up and out) rather than compressive force (down and in). Bruises are caused by compressive/impact trauma to soft tissue, which does not occur during a properly conducted cupping session. However where there is dead, static blood, lymphatic fluid, cellular debris, pathogenic factors, and/or toxins present in the body, cupping can leave marks ranging from bright red to dark purple, usually lasting 3 days to a week, which indicate that this stagnation has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface where it can then be eliminated by the circulatory and/or lymphatic systems. Appropriate diet, hydration, and self-care practices will likely reduce the length of time markings are present. Cumulative treatments will likely result in progressively lighter markings as toxicity is systematically removed from the body.
